So much snow that skiing #3 was doing the obstacle course … think snow

A Character Building Exercise

This hike started from Gibson Road, went up to the Dome.  The details in my head are rather vague for the next 3 hours until we reached Ridge Road except that there was a lot of bush; rather dense stuff.  I believe  that Little Lusk was  mentioned and so was Wadsworth.  The way down Deer Trail was not a big problem but walking in the field between the end of Deer Trail and the car was slow going (it felt like it).  Oh, did I mention that the black flies were out in large number.  They were not biting except they do swarm in large numbers, most annoying.  I swallowed six, by my count.  I would like to say that they are crunchy and slightly sweet.

Up the escarpment from Gibson Road

I will admit that it was a long time ago that I hike up from Gibson Road.  I forgot how steep it is … not for long.

I always thought of red trilliums as rather shy flower; its head is almost always down.

I always thought of red trilliums as rather shy flower; each plant is usually by itself and the flower is almost always facing down.

They are still in the minority. It usually flower after its red cousin.
